Paw Paw and Maw Maw down on the Farm!

Mackenzie and her Button!
This is every little girl's dream come true, right?  Her very own pony!!!  We had a great weekend with Paw Paw and Maw Maw as always.

The kids spent their time playing outside and loving all the farm animals.  They feed them lots of carrots and any other special treats they can find around the house, but the story I want to share goes way beyond a pony named Button.

The real story is how fortunate my children are to have such great grandparents in Paw Paw and Maw Maw!  You just mention their names and they kids go crazy!

Zach got brave and sat on Dumplin!
This is something very near and dear to my heart.  My parents were divorced when I was two, so I don't remember living with my Dad other then every other weekend and on Wednesday evenings.  I see now how hard of a decision that was for my Dad to make.  He absolutely loves kids.  Not being with me all the time had to feel impossible to him.

We live 2 hours away from Paw Paw, but every two weeks he starts to get an itch.  He can not stand to go longer then that with out seeing his grandkids.  We always know about this time that we are going to get a call mid afternoon saying "I am on my way up.  Do you need me to pick up anything for dinner?"

We will make it home from work to a house full of laughter and Paw Paw is right in the middle of it.  Usually, the kids are a little extra wound up on doughnut holes, but that is to be expected. We have dinner and then spend the rest of the night playing!  It is always a fun time, and the kids just love the fact that he spends the night.  In the morning ,we wake up and have a big breakfast together before he heads back home!

Then there are the trips to Kentucky to see them at their house.  The kids can talk about going down the entire week before!  They get super excited, but what kid wouldn't want to go to the farm and see the animals.  The pony, goat, and horses are also excited to see them as they know they are going to get lots of food  and attention over the next few days.  Mackenzie would stay "All day weekend!" if you let her.  The two of them never have any problems staying with Paw Paw and Maw Maw.  It is like Mommy and Daddy don't even exist when they are down on the farm.

Take a look at this smile!
So Dad and Lynne, thanks so much for being the best Paw Paw and Maw Maw any grandkid could ask for!  It means so much to me that you make time for them.  I know that you would do it with out any thanks, but I just want you to know that it is appreciated and cherished.

I count my blessings every day that we have an abundance of family support.  We have never paid for a babysitter.  That says a lot for all the support we have from family.  Mackenzie and Zach are lucky to have other wonderful grandparents as well, but that is for another blog!

That rocks that you have great family support! That is a special treat. We have a ton of family near but everyone always seems busy- sad sort of. But I do like being close! I popped in from Bloggy Moms! Thanks!
